All in one plasma cutter sets Kiwi Steel apart from the rest |

Auckland based Kiwi Steel has become one of the first one stop engineering shops in the country, with the purchase of a new Kinetic 4000 plasma plate processing machine.
Processing manager Patrick Murray says by carrying out the entire process in one plant and on one machine, Kiwi Steel can remove potential hold ups from the process, meaning it can get a high quality finished product back to customers in quicker time and at less cost than anyone else in the country.
Traditionally, up to four different companies or facilities have been needed to complete the range of functions carried out by the Kinetic 4000. He says often goods end up spending more time in transit between facilities, or waiting to be fitted into a plant’s schedule than they do in production.
“You can save days by removing the need to ship materials from one facility to another, let alone wait for them to fit your project into their schedules.”
The Kinetic 4000 features two gas heads and a high speed, automatic tool changer, allowing cutting, drilling and finishing functions to be carried out on the same machine in quick succession. The Kinetic 4000 plasma cutting head is accurate to 0.1mm, and features a full range of motion allowing hassle free bevel cutting at angles of up to 45 degrees in all planes. By combining a wide range of tools and functions, Murray says the Kinetic 4000 can replace a wide range of other machines, carrying out cutting, machining, grinding, drilling and weld preparation functions as well as etching parts. He says this can substantially reduce costs and improve turnaround times by making it possible to produce a wide range of components and products under one roof.
Murray says the top of the range Kinetic 4000 gives a higher quality plasma cut with less dross, reducing the need for post processing, cuts faster than gas or laser cutters, and can cut through substantially thicker plate than many other machines. “We can cut up to 60mm plate 24 hours a day, seven days a week on this machine.”
He says Kinetic is the leading manufacturer of plasma cutting machines, and the quality of the machine, combined with Kiwi Steel’s manufacturing expertise and strict quality control processes means it can provide some of the best service in the country bar none.

The purchase of the Kinetic 4000 was a logical extension to Kiwi Steel’s core business.
